Kia Ora – Welcome

Described as a ‘cultural icon’, Elena is one of the country’s most talented and innovative violinists. Her ability to breathe new life into classical compositions by drawing on the musical and cultural traditions of New Zealand’s first people, Maori, defines both her work and her reputation. The highlight of Elena’s career was performing at the  World EXPO 2010 Opening Ceremony in Shanghai, along side Lang Lang, Andre Boceli and Jackie Chan. Later that year in June Elena toured with Wellington’s Mayoral delegation lead by Mayor Kerry Prendergast to Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Xiamen. Elena  launched a CD at the New Zealand pavilion Shanghai during the EXPO.

Who Am I

If you live in Wellington, New Zealand, you’ve probably seen me around. That’s because I’m a professional freelance performer and a member of the Vector Wellington Orchestra. I love being a part of the Wellington scene. It’s a vibrant and culturally diverse city, alive with arts action throughout the year. It’s the true cultural capital of New Zealand. WOW (World of Wearable Art) is very much part of this cultural haven and I am delighted to be part of this years 2012 show in Visual Symphony along with 11 other members of the Vector Orchestra, conducted by the inimitable and talented Gareth Farr.  For more information go to ABOUT.
